DIY Aloe Eye Gel

After trying a disappointing eye cream, I made my own.

This summer, I celebrated a birthday and also welcomed in the fear of adult life. Not only are bills, insurance quotes and budgets in my future, but so are wrinkles, puffy eyes and dark circles. I have always heard that your early 20s was the time to start using eye cream as prevention against these (the puffy eyes, not the insurance quotes).

As a fan of Mario Badescu products, I purchased Ceramide Eye Gel. However, I should always looks at the ingredient list no matter how much I like a company's products. I got home and was disappointed to see the gel was bright green and contained dyes.

However, using some of the same ingredients and other natural alternatives, I made my own eye gel, free of dyes and perfumes!

DIY Aloe Eye Gel

1/2 tsp glycerin

1/2 tsp coconut oil

1 tsp aloe

1 tsp green tea

1/4 teaspoon beeswax

Mix the ingredients together in a glass bowl (for microwave) or saucepan (for stovetop) until the beeswax is melted and the mixture is smooth. Pour into container, freeze or refrigerate until solid.

I keep mine in the refrigerator all the time so that it's cool and refreshing.

What do you use for puffy eyes or dark circles?
